Our Story
From the village to the plate — the story of a place, a family, and a dream
The origins
The grandparents' grocery store
It all starts in Ribes, a small village in southern Ardèche. The family building once housed the village grocery store, run by Emmanuel's grandparents — Manu to his friends.
It was the beating heart of the village: people came to get bread, the newspaper, and most importantly, to catch up on news. The elders say that more time was spent chatting than shopping. This human warmth, this generosity, this idea that commerce is primarily a social bond — this is the DNA of La Cueille.
2021
La Cueille opens its doors
In 2021, Manu decides to bring the family building back to life. The project is ambitious: transform the building into a complete living space — restaurant, cottages, grocery, event space, guinguette. A place open all year round, rooted in its village, focused on local producers and artisans.
The name? "La Cueille," is the Ardèche word for "the harvest" — that of products, encounters, shared moments. It is also a nod to the Cueillette, the large event hall of the building.
The team
The faces of La Cueille
Manu — The boss
Grandson of the village grocers, Emmanuel is the soul of the place. Welcoming, passionate, deeply rooted. He's the one who imagined La Cueille as a social living space in the heart of the village.
Yaya — The chef
In the kitchen, it is Yaya who leads the dance. Simple, creative, and generous cuisine, with fresh products sourced from local producers. The menu changes every week with the rhythm of the harvests.
Baptiste — In the kitchen
Chef Yaya's right-hand man, Baptiste brings his touch and energy to the kitchen. Together, they create dishes that tell the story of Ardèche terroir.
